Summary of the Provincial’s Report
Sr. M. Lydia Ebora, RGS

In her Introduction, Sr. Lydia Ebora recalled significant
questions posed to her before she was elected Provincial Coordinator during the
1996 Provincial Chapter. She also mentioned what more she discovered during her
term as province leader, “seeing the world from the eyes of the poor, the
women’s perspective and the distressing realities in our world taught me the
mode of leadership which is ‘mustering power with” and not enforcing “power
over.” Collaboration, dialog, building trust and faith in oneself. others and in
God’s fidelity and compassion have become the pillars of my faith and leadership
for mission orientation.”
She thanked each sister in the Province for journeying with her and for “the quality participation in all the cluster meetings and gatherings” that “bonded the Province in compassion and courage.” She was also grateful to the General Leadership, for their unwavering support and life-giving animation of the Congregation.
Sr. Lydia enumerated the challenges of the 1996 Provincial Chapter “which were translated and into the province strategic planning, and gave the priorities identified by the communities for the next six years.
She emphasized the contribution of each sister, active or contemplative, in accomplishing the mission of province. The also reported on the province’s response to the call ‘to incluturate the Gospel and our charism beyond our borders. There are 36 Filipina RGS and CGS missionaries on mission overseas.
Sr. Lydia called on the
delegates, that “as we deliberate on the proposals and recommendations let us
pray and discern whether these proposals and recommendations enflesh the hopeful
possibilities of a future that will truly bring about the Reign of God and the
transformation of the world where there is fullness of life for all.”
