Highlights of  Provincial Chapter/Assembly

   
The Good Shepherd Sisters held their 8th Provincial Chapter/ Assembly on Sept. 10-18 in Maryridge, Tagaytay City.

    The gathering, the first in this millennium, began with a two-day recollection of all the delegates.

    Theme of the Provincial Chapter/Assembly was, “Journeying with the Poor towards Integral Transformation.”

    This is the first time the Contemplatives of the Good Shepherd will hold the Provincial Assembly (this is the Provincial Chapter counterpart for the Contemplative Sisters.)

    The 44 delegates consisted of 28 elected RGS, 7 elected CGS, and the 5 ex –officio members composed of the Provincial Coordinator (Superior) and her four Provincial Councilors, and four Junior observers.

    The chapter is convoked every six years.

    Sr. Lydia Ebora, Provincial Coordinator, said that the delegates to the chapter/assembly will discussed the concerns of the province especially how the Sisters can better serve the poor, particularly women. Sr. Lydia was elected Provincial during the 1996 Provincial Chapter.

    Sr. Guadalupe Bautista, former provincial superior of the Philippine Province from 1985-1990 and who is now a member of the General Council based in Rome, attended the chapter/assembly.

    Facilitator of the activities was Ms. Eva Galvey, Director of the Center for Ignatian Spirituality and founding partner and former director  of Emmaus Center.
