8:30               Workshop Consultation on Directions/Proposals & Recommendations

2:30 PM        Elections

The drawing incorporated the broad directions of the previous day in the form of a rainbow (bahaghari).  These directions flowed from the images of the Good Shepherd of the previous day, flowing as a rainbow to the reality of the global world where the empire is.  The prophetic ministries will be not possible until the other areas of spirituality, formation, partnership with the lay, stewardship and vocation ministry are in support of it.  Rainbow is a powerful image which indicates happy ending according to the myths of different cultures in the world which have flood stories.

Karl explained that since proposals tend to be very masculine, “Recommendations“  will be used.  Underlying these recommendations is trust in the leadership team.  They are not to imprison the leadership and not to constrict them.  All the recommendations which were approved by the majority are as follows:

1.      We recommend that all communities, in a synchronized manner, switch off lights, unplug household appliances, electric and electronic gadgets every Saturday from 8:00PM to 9:00PM.

 2. We recommend that the new Leadership Team create a Lay Mission Partnership Commission.

 3.   We recommend that the Province Leadership Team, after consultation with the Sisters in Mindanao, consolidate the communities and create a new structure that will serve mission.

Clarifications/Reactions:

·        one coordinator for Mindanao

·        not a regional coordinator – one from the region so easy to visit, less transportation expenses

·        to consult with the newly assigned sisters regarding consolidation – fluid recommendation

·        Request for a sister who will respond only to the needs of the sisters in Mindanao without having to look into administrative needs of the province as is the present case of the provincial councilor based in Mindanao.

·        Request to retain the presence of the Mindanao and assurance that their positive contribution will not be removed despite this new structure

·        “area coordinator” in the constitution as inspiration for the recommendation

 4. To ensure accountability and transparency in the resourcing and management of ministry funds.

1.     The sisters were given time for individual reflection on items:

      a) The priorities of the Province and the Congregation for CGS and RGS for   the period 2008-2014

      b) Challenges which the Province Leadership Team will need to address, and to reflect on the challenges.

The capitulants went off on different groups to surface skills needed by  the    various leadership roles.  Then they gathered in plenary session to report on their reflection.

Each nominee presented her strength and limitations/weaknesses: Sr. Maureen Catabian, Henedina Mananzan and Cecilia Torres.

Open forum followed.
